What You Can Learn From Richard Branson: Your Roadmap to Success

What you can learn from Richard Branson

Who do you admire in the business world?

For me there is one person I admire more than any other: Richard Branson.

It's not because he's a billionaire (who really needs that much wealth anyway??). It's got nothing to do with owning his own island in the Caribbean (although you've got to admit that's pretty cool). And it definitely has nothing to do with the fame (who wants to be hassled by people in the street?)

None of this.

It's because he lives his life exactly the way he wants. Who doesn't want that?

He is not beholden to anyone. He is not the ivory tower CEO type or forever bouncing from one contractual obligation to the next. He's just a guy building businesses and loving life.

The truth is we can all live this sort of life. A life of our choosing.

A life where you wake up in the morning and pick up from the day before continuing to do what you love. No boss. No standard paycheck. No more helping others become successful at the expense of your own dreams and ambitions.

In order to do this we must become obsessed with something. If you become obsessed with one thing, chances are you will be better at it than almost everyone else. If there is money to be made in your obsession you will find a way.

Ask yourself what you really want to be doing in 6 or 12 months time. Is it running your own business? Is it taking your current business to new heights? Is it a total change of direction? Or is it doing exactly what you're doing now?

Figure out what you really want to be doing and reverse-engineer it. What is the step below where you want to be? What about the step below that? Work backwards, writing down each step until you get to the point you are at right now.

This is how Richard Branson chose to live his life and this is your roadmap to success.
